Thatcher, Brexit, The Royal Family : un article rédigé par Laurène

De retour du voyage à Londres...

Thatcher, Brexit, The Royal Family : How British people see them nowadays ?

In the South of London, in Tunbrigde Wells, we heard many opinions about Margaret Thatcher, Prime Minister from 1979 to 1990, like the fact that she was loved by some people. She was a strong woman and the first to become prime minister. She led the country by taking good and bad choices, but like every person who must take care of a nation, it is a really hard work. It was wrong to close the pits and making many people jobless, but she also did impressive rules and took good decisions. Like the current prime minister, Rishi Sunak, who has to face many difficulties in Britain. Like in all countries, there are always things to do to make it better. It’s because of that many British people were sad when she died.
Moreover, Brexit is a real question that British people disagree about. Some of them weren’t for Brexit, saying it would not create more jobs, as many people said. For them, it would break the relations with other countries and would make tourism harder. Many British people were in favour of Brexit but now they see that wasn’t the best decision they made. There are still jobless people who are on the dole. For some of them, it was more a bad idea than a good one.
Also, another England’s landmark is not at its best today. Yes, the Royal Family has to deal with illness, with King Charles and princess Kate’s cancer. It was a really sad piece of news for many British people who love the Royal Family. They hope they will be okay in the future. Indeed, the Royal Family is a real conversation for British people. Some members are better known but others are funnier because they are not all the time under the lights. For example, many British people love the sister of former Queen Elisabeth the second, princess Margarette, who was determined and doesn’t let anyone walking on her feet ! But it’s a real feeling of happiness when they talk about the Royal Family, as if it were their family.
To put it in a nutshell, British people have many different points of view about those topics, creating a real diversity. Some of them are very happy of their country while others are a little bit scared of the future of England and the UK.
